INTEGRATING THE INTERNET INTO THE CLASSROOM

'Integrating the Internet into the Classroom' is an online course for those who want to use the extensive resources of the Net for the classroom or outside the classroom purposes. Michael D. Krauss has been working on the issue for more than a decade and has gained a great experience. He generously shares his knowledge with many teachers around the world. Here are his greetings to the members of this workshop.

Greetings to all participants of this Internet workshop!

Dr Michael D. Krauss Dr Michael D. Krauss, J.D., M.A.T. AES, Lewis & Clark College.

I am pleased at your efforts to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to integrate information and communications technology into your teaching. I know your students will be the beneficiaries when you work with them to develop the 21st century literacy skills they need to be knowledgeable and participatory world citizens!”

All the best, Michael Krauss.

In March 2004 I did an online course "Integrating the Internet into the Classroom", run by Michael D. Krauss, J.D., M.A.T. AES, Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon, USA.

The Red Square at Georgetown University, Washington DC, 2008

Along with many language instructors around the world we were wisely led by him through the nuts and bolts of the Internet jungles. It happened a couple of times when I went astray being driven by my own interests but anyone like me always had clear signs left by Michael. With him I began to understand the real power of the Internet and found out the ways of tapping to it.

Also I would like to thank Bridget F. Gersten, former English Language Programs Officer for Russia, Public Affairs Section, Embassy of the United States of America. It was her who told about the course. She is always in contact with many language teachers around Russia and both the cheerer and the organizer of many activities for the educational community.

I appreciate support by Tatiana D. Protasova, Dean of Applied Linguistics and Communication Faculty, and Svetlana D. Bidagayeva, Chair of English Language for Intercultural Communication Department (DELIC) of ESSTU.

In the wake of Dr. Krauss' course I tried to develop a site on American Studies (US Country Studies). Although not all the tasks were developed, I uploaded some of them onto the server to have them available for my students as a link resource. Now when the project is completed it is possible to have a whole course. Please, access the site at http://american-studies.narod.ru/.
